Meet the Team
We are incredibly grateful for our wonderful Principal, dedicated Teachers and caring SNA's. The team's commitment and passion create an exceptional environment for our students to learn and grow.

Principle
Helen Sherry
I have been privileged to dedicate over 25 years to education, beginning my teaching journey in Sherrif Street, Dublin, before moving across the bridge to Ringsend, where I spent the next 20 years.
Over this time, I had the opportunity to engage with students and families in diverse roles, six years as a Home School Community Liaison, five years as a Special Education Teacher, and the remainder as a
Mainstream Teacher.
Along the way, I embraced leadership roles including Co-Ordinator of Creative Schools Clusters, Assistant Principal, and Deputy Principal.
Throughout, my passion has remained steadfast, fostering pupil participation, nurturing leadership, supporting decision-making, and building strong, vibrant community connections.

In 2015, I attended a Steiner course in Camphill, Kilkenny called Introduction to Anthroposophy with Ulrike. This experience sparked a lifelong interest in Steiner methodologies, which I began incorporating into my classroom practice, including the development of a Forest School.
Since then, I have continued my Steiner journey, completing the three-year SWIM Steiner Teacher Training Course, attending summer CPD courses, and beginning the Therapeutic Classroom training for Special Education with Martin Henry and Gordon Woolard in Kilkenny.

In 2023, I was honoured to take on the role of Teaching Principal. What I love most about our school is its warm, nurturing spirit where every child’s individuality is celebrated, creativity is encouraged, and a strong sense of community connects students, families, and staff.

Our school is a place where holistic learning, meaningful engagement, and shared growth are not just ideals, but the lived experience of every day.

I am truly grateful to be part of a community where education becomes a journey of discovery, compassion, and possibility.

For me, working in our school means being part of a community that keeps evolving. I like that.
Each week brings something new, no two years are ever the same and yet, within this constant unfolding, there is a steady, grounding rhythm.
As we continue to lean into the cycle of the seasons, and as we accompany each child on their unique developmental journey, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the strong, well-rooted space our school has grown into.
I am delighted to be part of this evolving.

I came to teaching in a roundabout way - first I did a BA in Drama & Theatre Studies and Spanish in TCD, then I went off to Spain and worked teaching English in a primary and secondary school.
I realised teaching could be incredibly creatively challenging, and decided to do a M.Ed in Drama & Theatre Studies, while continuing to work in Spain, then as a primary school teacher in an international school.
I moved to the Dominican Republic and worked teaching there in a small, alternative school, then returned to Ireland to work in the public school system. I did a PGCE in Irish-Medium education in Queen's University Belfast, and emerged passionate about the Irish language and teaching through it.
I worked for 3 years in a Gaelscoil in Dublin City, which I enjoyed, but I knew that a different model of education was right for me.
In 2020, I started my Steiner training in the SWIM course, and in 2022 I got my dream job in Cuan na Gaillimhe CNS and moved West!
I love the gentle, kind, holistic approach of the school, the connection to nature and the wonderful school community.
I teach extracurricular Spanish and enjoy working in our organic vegetable garden.

I have always loved working with children. I went straight into a childcare course after school then onto a Montessori course.
I was teaching for 3 years and then went on to do intellectual disability nursing. I worked in Abalta special school for 9 years which I absolutely loved & never thought I would leave.
But one day I came across a job advertised for Cuan na Gaillimh & I just knew that is where I was supposed to be. I found my home here 3 years ago & have not looked back. It is such a magical place for both staff and children.
